Techniques to Learn Any Skill in 20 Days

After getting Kindle as a Gift, I have been exploring free books on the Amazon Store and this is one of those ebooks I found out of blue. It was small and much-needed Guide at this moment of life due to my lack of concentration or self-doubt on some area’s, speaking of which this is a must read the book to those learning something new or who are picking their pieces to come out of some Failure.

This book Neatly covers 5 Areas and I am just highlighting the key takeaways:

  1. Why you have always Failed?
    • Reasons may be anything like: it was too Hard, it was too expensive, nobody cared, it hurt, I lost interest.
    • To learn something new effectively, you have to approach it objectively.
    • To learn something quickly, you have to know what you want to learn.
  2. How to Dissect your Skill
    • Be specific in what you want to learn
    • Determine what the sub-skills are you will need to learn
    • Master your sub skills one at a time.
    • Go back and practice each sub-skill as you learn the next one in the sequence
    • Learn a major Sub skill that will help you get started towards your goal while you learn the rest.
  3. The art of Successful Practice
    • Set Time for your practice .. Literally
    • Practice Daily
    • Work your skill into your day as much as possible
    • practice with the intent
    • A couple of smaller sessions throughout the day is better to learn with if you can manage that schedule
  4. Don’t be afraid to dream Big
    • Set yourself Goals, both long term and for short term, you will see yourself gain a lot of ground in the day to day if you do.
    • Don’t just fit your new skill into your day, make it a deliberate part of your day
    • eliminate the excuses.
    • add into your day the triple R System – Routine, Recording, Rewarding.
  5. The Key to Succeeding at Your New Skill.
    • Work on your new skill within an hour of going to bed
    • Don’t let giving up be an option
    • Commit to the time it takes
    • Be ok with being imperfect

These points may seem like already known but in the midst of the stress and wanting to win we forget to remember these small points. I am sure it will be very useful not only in any new skill but also in our daily lives.

Do make some time to read it in-depth if you have some time.
