After attempting my first 5K Run in Contours Run for Women conducted in March, I ran a few other 5 K runs like Rang Race, Run for Humanity are few to name. I was tempted for more, tempted to test my limits, test my ability and see how much I could take. It might sound little funny to hear this come from me, but the fact is I had given up on me being a sports person again. I was going through tough phase, it was exactly like letting a person to walk out in day light who was tied in dark for months.

Now I realize why people always said Running is addictive, no I am not trying to lose weight or any such thing. I just enjoy running; but I was really not sure if i could complete TCS 10K, the most awaited run every year. It is the event which sees maximum number of new Runners every year. Oh, you should visit sometime to watch the Crowd of TCS, Some are seeing challenging themselves; some are seen enjoying their Run while new runners are trying their best to meet the finish line.

90mins was the time set to complete 10K, and with me where my two friends who were capable of finishing in the time slot. I completed my first 5Kms at ease, all that I targeted was to complete the run in 90 mins even if it means walking and Running. I felt I was slow and holding back my friends so I just said them to go at their phase without waiting for me. At some check points I relaxed walked enjoying the view around. At some places I was just lazy to push myself. There was a point where I thought of quitting when my ankle started killing me, but then one smart move that my friend did was; he took my phone and purse and went a head of me. I was just making sure to go till I meet them, as I reached towards 8Kms and crossed Vidhana Soudha track route I decided it is utter waste if I give up now. It is okay if I can’t keep up the timing finishing is all that matters.
I dint have any strategy in mind when I started my run, but by the end I understood not to remind myself of the finish distance but to just keep pushing myself to complete next 1Km. I dint understand my body, at water stations I was not thirsty but when I was thirsty I dint find the water stand. That taught me a lot, not everyone can follow the same plan while running, one gets tiered very soon while the other is can finish the whole 10K stretch without a break. It all depends on an individuals capacity.

Yes! I was able to complete my first 10 K with all my energy drained and after I crossed the finish line, I felt breathless for a while but my friends where supporting me to stand and relax. Obviously the after pain was sweet yet tiering, I slept like a buffalo after returning home, All I remember is having nice bath followed by chicken and fell asleep woke up after 5 hrs or so. So this was my first running a 10Kms run, but then it also taught me there is no limits for you capabilities it all in our head and matter of setting goals. Once you make up ur mind to reach the goal you can do it with ease.
